Interests

Lately, I've been pretty busy with school work. I am currently working on a project, called the MQP (Major Qualifying Project). This project is within my major, and is meant to serve as a capstone to my experience here at WPI.

Due to my outside interests, the topic I selected for my project is the design and fabrication of a Class-D automotive subwoofer amplifier. Originally, I was in a group with another partner, but my partner was forced to leave school and I was left to complete the project on my own. Its planned finish date is currently mid-semester next fall.

I also like to tinker around with cars, and car audio systems. I currently have a black 1992 SAAB 900, which gets me from point A to point B with a rather high rate of reliability. I installed a JVC CD-MP3 player, and a pair of Infinity 12" subwoofers driven by a JL 500/1 Amplifier. I also have the mids and highs amplified through a Pyle (of Sh!t) 75x2 amplifier. The next time I come into a good amount of money, I plan to upgrade this setup.

I also harbor some unexplained interest in computers, as well as pretty much any piece of technology you could think of. I can't resist taking things apart whenever I get the chance, if it could save me some money or provide some kind of insight, or maybe simply for something to do when I'm bored.

I have extensive experience with computers in general, mostly Windows 95/98/2000/XP and Mac OS 6/7/8/9/X, and some limited knowlege of Unix and Linux. I have done some design work in the past, mostly "for fun," but also for money. I have designed items such as business cards, brochures, t-shirts, postcards, and others. Most of my work gets done using Adobe's fine line of graphics programs, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and PageMaker.

I currently own a desktop windows machine, an Apple Macintosh G3, and a Hewlett-Packard laptop computer.

I also do some web design, but I haven't taken the time to learn any scripting or PHP/SQL-type web design. Again, I primarily look to Adobe for my web design needs, combining the very powerful GoLive with Photoshop to produce fairly decent results. See the links page for some examples.
